Engine 260 Muster

I think every time I see my husband in one of his various uniforms, I always realize how hot he truly is. LOL!   It was the Marine uniform that roped me in for good, and now it doesn’t get any better… because it has turned into the fireman uniform.

This past weekend we had a Muster in one of our local towns. Muster is basically a fancy word for competition of all fireman related games. Here are some of the pictures I took…

Mr. Sexy Sexy!   Anyways, the department came home with a couple trophies!  I am super proud of all of our guys!  They did their best, and we all had a great time!

PASSED!

I know it seems like forever since I updated this page on my site, but between boring things my husband and I have had to do, and his class time, nothing all that exciting has gone on!

Until yesterday!

Will found out he PASSED his Fire I class!  There are three parts to the test, including a confusing section on Hazardous materials. And he ROCKED it!

Now this means two more classes, and he can start applying to the vast majority of paid fire departments in our state. So hopefully another year, and he will be paid.

Starting in September is the 2Q class, meaning by the end he will be able to drive the fire trucks. There is a serious shortage of drivers all hours of the night, and sometimes guys from other companies in our town come to his company just to drive the trucks. I have 100% faith in him and know he will score high there, and be licensed by October/November when the class is over.

Then comes the basic EMT course, which is what we hear to the the hardest.  It is also a big chunk of change out of our own pockets to the tune of $500+.  I know he will do well on that also. I believe he is looking to start that at the beginning of 2011.

It is a long road, but he is young, experienced, and has been doing amazing all over, especially with his Probie of the year award!

I couldn’t be more proud of him, and I support him 100% in his journey.

Good job babe!

Echo Hose Softball 2-0

Last night was Echo Hose’s second softball game. And the team is officially 2-0! They won over Seymour’s Fire House in a truly comical game. After the display of these clowns playing last night, I will be sure to be at EVERY game! Some of the moments were simply priceless.I snapped a ton of great pictures which spread like wildfire through facebook once we got home and I uploaded them. It was slightly on the cold side though. I am hoping that it warms up. Seriously we were FROZEN by the time we got home. I had to take a bath to thaw!

Couple of the guys before the game. Jonesy, Andrew, Brennan, CJ, Steve, and Jr is kind of in the picture…

Will up to bat

Gerry batting

Kerry Anne and Ben all cuddled up staying warm.

All the guys after the game.

Phone Vs. Toilet … You Can Guess Who Won…

Just a little something to add to the DH section here.

Sunday afternoon DH and I had just got home from a birthday party, then carnival with the boys, and a friend of his was waiting for us with some papers he needs for his exam he has coming up, from this never ending class.

Well DH runs inside really quick to go to the bathroom, and when he came back out, he had quite the scowl on his face. His cell phone slipped right out of the pocket on his hooded sweatshirt and down it went. In mid air he tried to grab it, but it was too late. The almost 3 year old LG Verizon phone was toast.

Thankfully since DH is not a cell phone addict like I am and really doesn’t care about upgrades, or new phones, his line was eligible for an upgrade, so he didn’t have to pay full price for a new phone.

Off he went to Verizon, only to come back with the newest in the free phone series they offer. Same phone, just newer. Simple, no keyboard, just how he likes it.

Moral of the story?  Keep your phone out of the bathroom!

Why I Love Him

Today, my loving DH came home from work with….

  • Bag of potatoes (which I asked him to pick up on his way home from work)
  • Hylands Teething tablets for our toothy 2nd child (also asked him to pick up)
  • Shaken Passion Tea Lemonade from Starbucks (my fav!)
  • Flowers for his beautiful wife he loves (his words not mine!)

Another reason why my husband rocks!
They may not be a dozen roses, but they matter to me more than any high priced flower would.
We may want to kill each other sometimes, but it is the moments like today that make us appreciate each other and the gifts we have given each other in life.

Love you hunny!

Jinx

If you read the DH section of my blog, you would have seen my post about how incredibly quiet it has been in recent weeks. Well, of course I totally jinxed the local fire department.

What happened after that post?

Propane truck fire, that could have been MUCH worse than it turned out to be. Thankfully al the men that responded to this call are safe and no one got hurt!

That same night, they were called to a car fire.

Turned out to be a stolen car, that was completely gutted, there was not even an engine!  The car ended up rolling and hitting one of the firetrucks!  Again, thankfully everyone was ok.

Early this morning DH was called to a car accident on the main road in our town which people think is a race way. Two cars completely totalled.

Now we have “dangerous” rains coming towards us, to the tune of 6-7 inches. So stay tuned for lots of flooded houses, pump outs and idiots causing car accidents!

When Idiots Can’t Drive

The area we live in has a highway called “Route 8″ that runs through our town. It is a 4 lane highway, 2 lanes on each side, and the majority of it is straight. There are a couple curves with signs that detail it and warn about the hazard ahead.

Point of the post? Yesterday there were two roll over accidents, in the rain on straightaways on this highway. How these people have rolled their cars over in this area is beyond my husband or myself.

First took place mid afternoon, my husband was on his way home from work early to take the children to the Doctor. He passed by though if he could have stopped he would have. Result of that accident?

Car into the woods, no injuries, no extrication (people got out on their own)

Then last night we were settling in to watch some TV and cuddle with the toddler when the pager went off. Another roll over, victim laying in the median. Ok, so he gets up and goes.

Driver charged with DUI on the spot.
Her boyfriend arrested for interfering with the police, while claiming he was the driver.

Never a dull moment.

A Huge Accomplishment

My husband can tend to be a complete over acheiver
Earlier in the year, when he joined the local volunteer fire department, he learned that they give out an annual award for Probationary Firefighter of the Year. Once he knew that it was an option during your year as a “probie” he knew in the back of his mind he MUST win that award.
Often bragging to the officers at the Fire Department that the award would be his.

Well last night, during the annual Past Captains Night, mainly to honor former Captains and officers of Echo Hose, he was awarded with the award he has strived to win since April when he got involved.   Probationary Firefighter of the year!

Congrats to my super awesome husband Will!

How the Hell???

I am not really sure how exactly how something like this happens, but DH was called out on Sunday afternoon for a motor vehicle vs. telephone pole. When he tried to explain the position of the car, I just didn’t get it but then today I finally saw a picture of the car.

Dear drivers… Please pay attention when you are driving.. you could end up aerial.

Stolen Car Explodes

A little after midnight my husband’s fire department pager went off and he was dispatched to a car that was on fire. Confirmed at least one explosion along with the fire.  So Echo Hose took out Engine 2 and headed towards the fire.

Apparently it was a stolen car had been dumped off in a quiet local neighborhood, and been lit on fire.

Never a dull moment.

Closing Time

Last Saturday night, January 30th, around closing time for the bars… There was a call for a working dumpster fire, and of course in typical wake up, run out the door at the drop of the word FIRE, DH was one of the first on scene and he was the one to put the fire itself out…

Not the best picture there is, I am sure there will be some new, and much better ones as I work more on my husbands cute little corner over here, but since I was able to dig this one up I wanted to share.  Let’s see what kind of escapades this weekend brings!

It’s Test Time!

My lovely volunteer fire fighter husband is currently in the middle of taking the “Fire Fighter 1″ course with our local fire department right now. He loves what he does, and it is not something they are required to take, but if he has hopes of becoming a fire fighter in more than a volunteer capacity, it is something he needs. Luckily through this course, we also do not need to pay the absorbent cost for the course either!

Monday is his first test. I am excited, and nervous for him at the same time. I know that he will be a rock star and do awesome, but in the back of my head I have anxiety for him also because I would hate for him to worry about the test, choke, or who knows what else. Granted he is probably one of the most intelligent people taking the course, I guess it is just my motherly worrying kicking in. I hope it isn’t like this when the kids go to school, although I think it is inevitable.

So wish my husband some luck because Monday is his big day!
