Since becoming a mother, I often long for more… which I got when I started actually getting paid to write last fall. Between the two places I currently write on Babble.com (Baby’s First Year, and Being Pregnant) and then managing social media for Go Mama Go Designs until early this spring before the baby came… I felt so fulfilled.
There is such a stigma around stay at home mothers today that if that is all you do, you aren’t really doing much of anything. As if raising children isn’t a full time job right? People want you to work three full time jobs, two part time jobs, and of course be a full time mother, and house keeper. Those are also the people you will never please no matter what you accomplish.
But recently I find myself longing for a career above and beyond blogging. I love blogging, and I plan to continue doing it for a long time, especially at Babble since I have almost a whole year before Addie wont be considered in her first year anymore… but my interest has really turned towards interior design. Especially since Pinterest became one of my “Me time” hobbies.
Looking around at all the different things, ideas, and creativity you can really work with just around the home… especially when it comes to crafts makes me want to dive head first into it. I know this isn’t like Desperate Housewives where Linette and Renee where one day you just decide you want to start your own business and magically have an ass load of clients, and a big buck business… That is silly TV.
But over the next couple years, it certainly is an idea I want to entertain.
Ever have a dream like this?
