Today an Alaskan Judge ruled that Levi Johnston, the dead beat dad of the teen mother role model Bristol Palin’s son Tripp must pay back child support for the little rugrat to the tune of $18,000!
Hope he saved his pennies from that Playgirl shoot!
Bristol is as ruthless as her mother!
Wonder where she gets it from!
Good. Why shouldn’t he pay!
Of course he should pay child support, but $18,000 for a child that is a year old in backed child support for a 19 year old kid?
Well, support is not calculated by the age of the father. It is calculated by a certain percentage of salary in each state. In NY it is 25% of salary, regardless of age, for two children.
I am not sure how it is calculated in Alaska, but I am sure it is much lower than 25%, especially due to the huge difference in the price of living.
On top of it, this is a boy whos only income was that stupid magazine cover. What happens when in 2010 he doesn’t have any income? Does that mean he has nothing to pay?
The whole situation is silly, and 18,000 for child support is ridiculous for this case in general IMO.
Well, I’m not sure what the percentage is in Alaska. He has a child, he better get a job. Nineteen is an adult, and he needs to take on his responsibilities as does the child’s mother. Their baby days are over, they have a child they are responsible for. Get a job and support your child. IMO, $18,000 is not alot of money and that “silly cover” earned him a good deal. If invested correctly, he could be earning on the earnings from the cover.
Which is why kids shouldn’t have kids.
That cover earned him $100,000 which I have no doubt he has already blown through.
Good luck to both of them because this battle is going to continue till that child is 18.
If he’s stupid enough to blow through $100,000, then I don’t know what to say. He’s 19, he’s not a kid, but a grown man. He also earned royalties from other sources and $18,000 alone from a construction company job. The man is earning money and hiding it. That’s wrong. A judge looks at income before they order support. A judge wouldn’t have made the order if the man could not pay that. The judge will order according to income. Example: Regardless of age, if a judge has proof of income, and the percentage is 17% for one child, he/she will order 17%. If the proof of income is $200,000, you pay 17% of that. If the proof of income is $20,000, you pay 17% of that. So, obviously, if the support is equaling $18,000, the judge has proof in his/her hands he can pay that, thereby, ordering the payment. One is a legal adult at age 18. We aren’t discussing a child, but a man.
I disagree. If people stopped referring to them as boys, but instead as the men they are, they would finally grow up. Generations past were much more mature. There are reasons for this. Society and their families did not baby them to death, nor did they refer to them as children. They had certain expectations and responsibilities. They had confidence. They thought of themselves as adults. They called themselves adults. If anyone had called my mother or myself a girl at age 19, it would be considered an insult. We considered ourselves women. We acted like women. Socety has to stop babying and pittying and let people grow up and take responsibility for their own actions. He should pay and I don’t feel sorry for him being ordered to pay. She too should take on her half of the responsibilities.
My mom was engaged at age 18 and married at age 19. The last things she called herself was a girl.
Why would Bristol be considered ruthless? She is doing the right thing, demanding that the baby’s father also help support the child. Both parents are responsible for support. To let a parent walk away from that responsibility is wrong. She should be commended for her efforts.
You are more than welcome to disagree.
It still doesn’t chance my thoughts on it.
Your mother may have been engaged at 18, and married at 19, but women mature a hell of a lot faster than men, and we have been seeing that for decades, if not forever.
You are right, kids today are babied which is why this kid won’t live up to the responsibility of being a “real” father. I dont really see the situation changing even in the upcoming years.
I never said that I do not think he should be paying child support, I just feel the amount is excessive for any child.
Just like when celebrities are ordered to pay $60K a month in child support. It is obnoxious and in reality it doesn’t take THAT much money to raise a child. Our society is selfish and spoiled, and the excessive amount of money we pay for ridiculous things is proof.
Ruthless? Because she has had him in court a dozen times in the past few months, and all reports continue to show the father is not being allowed any visitation.
What did she expect having a child as a teen? Kitties and puppy dogs and bubble gum?
Again, years ago at age 19, men were mature just like women were. Again, support is ordered by income. If someone earns 5 million a year, then 17% of 5 million is the amount the will pay. Who is to say what is enough to raise a child and what is excessive. That’s personal choice. To the person earning 5 million, good for them. To the child receiving 17% of 5 million, good for them.
I understand that, obviously. And I’m stating my personal opinion.
According to “reports” he has visitation rights, but has been unable to visit with his son.
Whatever that means…. But I have a feeling it has to do with Brisol’s mother, and living in her mothers home.
Then he should seek court-ordered visitation outside the home. Something tells me he isn’t that interested.
