I met Kristine, Cora’s mother on twitter in the wake of the most tragic event of her life. She had lost her daughter, only a few days old to a undetected congenital heart defect.
Over the next year, we talked, became friends, and finally met during the 2010 BlogHer conference where all I could do was give her a giant hug. We still talk weekly, and when we found out we were having a little girl, Kristine offered some of Cora’s belongings to pass along. I was touched.
Monday I got a package from Kristine, with this in it.
Our little girl will not only keep the memory of Cora alive, but help save more lives.
Remember, February is Congenital Heart Defect awareness month.
I met Marie on the BlogHer conference message board when she was looking to share a hotel room a couple ways for the conference last year, and we hit it off great, and became amazing friends. Marie is my parents age, and has MS. She drives this kick ass little scooter which I pinned myself up against my bed in the hotel room also. She is an amazingly crafty woman, and she made our little girl this little quilt. I am in love with it.
Yesterday I got a surprise package in the mail thinking it was my sunglasses and cork screw I accidentally left behind in our hotel room back in August, and while those important items were in there, this beautiful quilt was also.
She is the best!
This boy loves fire trucks.
He lines them up all along the couch, floor, coffee table… basically all over the living room.
At night, he parks them all in his “garage” also known as under his bed. Cutest thing EVER!
Today, he had no idea I was even taking a picture of him. As his little brother took a nap, I snapped a couple pictures, and played around with some of my editing software… How cute?
Today, I took my oldest son Camden and went to visit my parents for a couple hours. I was originally going to take both kids with me while my husband got a couple things done around the house, but the little one fell asleep for a nap before I could get him dressed and out the door, so he stayed behind and napped.
Camden enjoyed the one-on-one time with Ole and Momo (Grandma, and Grandpa) and had a blast.
My mother, even sugared him up with some Smarties as a treat.
This is what is going on in the picture. It was actually hysterical. Camden would take the candy and pop it into his mouth, and chew away, then this look of… OMG! SOUR! would come over his face like clockwork.
Although he can eat lemon’s with no problem?
I love my “work”
Today when the kids were occupied with my husband, I ran off and locked myself in the nursery to take some pictures of products I am reviewing in the next couple months. I looked at it as an opportunity to get some work done because I am seriously behind on some things, and I lost even more time this week because of the kidney stone saga.
In the words of Ricki Bobby… I made that kidney stone my bitch.
After battling with this thing for well over a week, and thinking it would literally never pass like my last one, I passed my stone today. I was beyond excited, but I also wanted to take a picture of it to show people that yes, kidney stones really do look NOT like rocks, and they are not smooth by any means. If you could look closer, you would see this SOB has some kind of shark tooth looking hook on it.
Fun times!
My technology boy… Pretending to talk on his cell phone, with his laptop in the background.
Maybe he will be the next Bill Gates?
That is my husband, and he is on the roof of my house.
Because of all the snow, he had to get up there and shovel it off…
Of course I had to take a picture of it…
We have fur babies too…
They often get looked over, or forgotten when it comes to blogging or family pictures because 9 times out of 10 they are hiding or trying to fly out the front door. But with the 45 feet of snow we have outside, they have decided to try and reclaim the house from the kids.
This is Pesky… He joined our family when our oldest was about 4 months old, after our beloved Emily passed away. My aunt’s cat had kittens, and Pesky was identical to Emily, so we gave him a good home.
He sleeps with Camden every night, when he isn’t trying to take over the bed from me.
During pregnancy, and when I am sick though, he always stays by my side. He is my cuddle buddy.
You can see though, Benjamin tried to stake his claim to the area of the couch Pesky took over today… notice Pesky is still there, and Benjamin is not?
First battle the cat has won in a while…
I am not a happy camper.
Today the urologist said he could call something in for pain, and when I picked it up, I realized it was something that would do one of two things.
1) Have me hugging the toilet from vomiting violently or
2) Have me in a coma
making caring for my children virtually impossible. I almost want to send him a little memo and say “Thanks, for… NOTHING!”
I am sadly coming to the conclusion that this kidney stone is something I am going to have to deal with until after my daughter is born in May.
While it may only be a crappy cell phone camera picture, I had to share this today… This weekend has been rough for all of us in the wake of the kidney stone from hell, but after going down for a nap, and being woken up only 45 minutes into it, Ben decided he was done napping for the day. I gave him his favorite toys, and hoping the whining and crying would subside shortly after.
He got very quiet so I glanced over, and he take taken two pillows off the couch, grabbed his blanket, and laid down right there on the floor. He is my child that could sleep ANYWHERE.
This has to be my favorite new color ever. Not just because it is on a cute cloth diaper, or because I am having a daughter, I have always loved the light pink, and I am actually excited to be able to buy small baby things in this shade now… just not stuff for myself.
I am excited to try Fuzzibunz too. Thus far I have only used AppleCheeks, and wanted to see what other kinds of things there are out there. I also got a cloth diaper sewing pattern I plan on putting to use myself.
This can sum up my day… Heartburn meds, bottled water up the wazoo, my cell phone, glasses… and then my husband totally made my day. Typically once a month I treat myself to a cinnabon in the mall with the kids while he gets his hair cut. It has become a little mini tradition of my own. Well because of the whole kidney saga, I skipped the mall tonight when he went for his appointment, and just stayed home with the boys… This is what he brought me home as a surprise.
Best husband of the year award!
