Ok, so today I was laying in bed relaxing while the children were napping, and I looked up and noticed… there is totally a breast on my ceiling. Of course most normal people wouldn’t notice something like this. Only me right?
You can see the shape of a boob, and then a nipple… Maybe I should put it up as my facebook picture and see how long it takes to get deleted since of course boobs are soooo inappropriate… of course unless they are hanging out of the top of a shit faced 20 something right?
Ya know, I had another post scheduled for today, but I signed on to facebook, and a friend of mine had shared a post with pictures of women found around the popular networking site. All the pictures are of women with serious breast situations going on.
Lets just call this an example of what facebook considers appropriate vs. inappropriate and obscene…

According to the lovely facebook staff, the above picture is just fine, not offensive, or inappropriate at all. No issues what so ever…

On the other hand, this picture is offensive, and inappropriate content for facebook and was deleted… A baby… sleeping on their mother after falling asleep nursing… THE HORROR!

Appropriate….

Inappropriate…

Appropriate…

Inappropriate and offensive…

Perfectly fine… BTW lady, your bra is showing… ya need a bigger shirt…

Horribly offensive…
Clearly you can see what the problem here is. But I guess that is what we can expect from a bunch of little boys running such a large, and popular website. Bias and lack of common sense rules. And by the way… the pictures I posted above of the women which are considered completely acceptable for the website are the most tame pictures I found. There were downright pornographic pictures of multiple naked women taken from the site, but I made the conservative choice not to put them on my website because I know my readers often have children around when they are reading.
This is a serious problem with this website.
I think facebook needs a little help seeing their hypocrisy!
Screen shot of the original post which was pulled.
I know most probably do not keep up with the Politics of Facebook, and what takes place regarding the website. Heck, I still have some friends and family members that absolutely refuse to use the site. At this point I am starting to understand why.
First it started with breastfeeding pictures. Women feeding their children, with very little skin showing, I know my breastfeeding
pictures I posted were certainly modest including blankets covering my children. With the simple caption to one of them of “Breastfeeding at Fenway Park” and even this picture was removed! I was shocked to say the least. Then it started happening to friends, and other family members. I knew it was something specifically targeting breastfeeding mothers.
Groups started popping up all over Facebook supporting the breastfeeding mothers. Put a Blanket over your head, Breastfeeding is not Obscene, Ban Photos of Bottle Feeding Babies, the list goes on and on. There are tons of groups that got deleted through this battle.
Yesterday, a non-profit organization dedicated to Intact Activism was targeted and deleted by facebook for what was called “vulgarity” and “inappropriate content” which most found outrageous because this group was not only focused on medical terms, but used appropriate terms, information, and real medical resources on their group page.
This then spurred my thought that it seems to be only the parenting causes, or groups related to parenting choices that are being targeted by Facebook. Groups dedicated to making a joke out of rape, harassing the Troops, and other various inappropriate and disgusting groups sit on Facebook completely untouched. Same goes for the pictures of disgustingly dressed half naked kids, some under the age of 18 in compromising situation. Yet Facebook is not taking the time to hunt them down, or monitor their pictures for inappropriate content.
Above picture is a perfect example. A Paparazzi shot of Britney Spears, it is floating all over Facebook, as girls with just as much skin showing, and they are not being disturbed or deleted, yet they are showing far more skin than the vast majority of nursing mothers that were included in the mass deletion of breastfeeding mothers pictures.
Want to do something about it? Write Facebook and tell them how they are being not only biased, but bigoted towards one group.
They have really pissed off a LARGE group of mothers, internet bloggers, and activists.

Between internet blog posts about how breastfeeding mothers should cover up, to facebook’s attack on breastfeeding mothers using pictures of their nursing babies, and even the recent backlash against Nestle, I figured I should write something about it. Now, I am a huge breastfeeding advocate, I breastfeed my oldest, and I breastfeed my youngest until we realized there was an issues and he genuinely was a child who needed formula. Heart breaking for me, but it was a lesson well learned, and it helped me to stop being as much of a “no excuse accepted lactivist” to a lactivist that understands there is a need in some cases, it just sucked that I needed to learn at the expense of my own child.
Nestle : My take on Nestle. I may not agree with their practices over the years by any means, but, without their company, I would have never finally found a formula my son could tolerate. That is really all I have to say about that, no more, no less.
Facebook : Get over yourselves facebook! Seriously, there are women parading around in less than I have seen in midnight skin-o-max while flipping through the channels, yet these women are not being targeted or disciplined for their photographs. Why? Because nudity is far more socially acceptable in our society today, especially when it is skanky clothing and women who clearly do not have much respect for themselves. What’s fair is fair, if they are taking down all the pictures of women breastfeeding, all the pictures of women feeling their children should come down, food, bottles, all of it. Why single out one group of feeders? If we are going to be biased of women feeding their children, they all should be banned.
Not to mention, aren’t there bigger fish you should be frying facebook? Like the pedophiles on your website looking to target the underage kids pretending to be 16 or 18? There are more serious issues with your website than some breastfeeding photos.
Covering up : I am so sick of the cover up argument/issue. The vast majority of those bitching about breastfeeding mothers covering up while they are nursing are adults. Well here is a tip for you adults, FUCKING TURN YOUR HEAD! Jesus, you would think that people are forcing you to breastfeed off a random mother in the mall. No, put on your big girl/big boy panties, turn your head and get over yourself. You are the same assholes who would be complaining about a screaming baby. Hypocrite!
Go Breastfeed in the Bathroom : I am not sure about most people out there, but I can tell you I have never sat down and had my lunch in the bathroom. Have you? Why would you insist someone else do something of that nature when you would not do it yourself?
When it all comes down to it in the end, the people of The United States have serious issues with the way babies are meant to be fed, and this of course comes from society, and out issues with nudity, looks, and social status. Hopefully we can see a change in this because something has got to give!
