I have had the chance to accomplish some of my 101 in 1001 goals since creating my list. One of the goals on my list is documenting my 1001 journey, so today I am going to share some of the things I got to cross off, and what we did as a family to accomplish these.
Sell a Photograph to a Stranger
One of my goals recently since starting to dabble in photography is selling some of the prints I have made out of my photographs. I started by putting some in my Etsy Store, which turned out to be a good idea as I have sold a few already! It is exciting. I know I am not a professional by any means, but I love doing it!
Go on a Picnic
I have wanted to go on a family picnic for a while. Something simple for us to do together. On Sunday we attended a charity event that encouraged families to bring their own picnic lunches and blankets. We camped out and had a great lunch!
Visit a Zoo
Saturday of this past week, we went to our local zoo. We are members there so we pay one price to go as much as we want during the year, although this past year we didn’t take advantage of it as much as we probably should have, or normally would have. My oldest Camden was really excited this time. He knew all the animals, and wasn’t scared to run up to the viewing areas. It was a huge change from our visit last year when he didn’t want to leave the stroller for most of the stops.
Dye my Hair
Recently I was starting to feel like a frumpy housewife. The plain hair that I haven’t cut (by choice) in over a year, lack of dye, styling, or whatever so I had my home girl Amanda come over and do me up! I went with a deep burgundy top, with a dark blond bleach job on the under part of my hair. It came out awesome, and it totally helped me to feel more like me.
Enter at least one original photo contest
I entered a couple photo contests online, although I didn’t win, it certainly was fun!
Pick Strawberries
Before our trip to the Zoo on Saturday we made a trip to the strawberry field here to pick our own strawberries. I love going and doing this stuff, although some of it I have to drag my DH to kicking and screaming. LOL
Make two new friends… Good friends
Since the summer started, it seems like the Fire Department as a whole is really starting to do more things together. This summer there are more women around. New members that have joined with fiances, sisters, and girlfriends. More long term women hanging out. I have build some great friendships with some of them. Some I am closer with than others, but overall it is a great feeling to have more friends accepting of who you are, who LOVE your children, and will help you out in a pinch!
Redesign my Blog
If you haven’t noticed, Momotics has a new look thanks to Sarah, my awesome webmaster. She always comes up with the coolest ideas, and she rocks!
Talk to a Stranger
If I was still 7 my parents would probably kill me. I talk to strangers all the time. I am just a friendly person! Which kind of made this goal slightly easier than most of the others.
Go on a Hike
About a month and a half ago, I dragged my husband, one of the guys from the firehouse, and our two children up to a beautiful park called Southford Falls here in Connecticut. We went for an awesome hike, and got tons of great pictures, especially this one my husband took of me and Ben.
Perform a Random Act of Kindness
I do this often, contrary to popular belief. But I think our biggest acts of kindness lately is helping out one of the new guys at the fire house. From rides, to dinner, he has almost become a third son to be. Like i need one right? LOL
Take Professional Pictures
I finally did it! I went and got my headshots done for my professional stuff I get wrapped into frequently. My childhood best friend’s father is a local professional photographer, so I called him up and went to get them done. It was hard in the end to pick which I wanted to use the most though.
Do Volunteer/Charity Work
I have been working a lot lately with a local charity called The Shelton Butterfly Project. From writing articles on the project, to recently volunteering at their butterfly release this past weekend. It certainly is rewarding, and a cause close to my heart.
With that, I am done for now with my update. I am going to make posts like this every once and a while to keep up with my tracking and documenting goal of this project. I hope some of you take the time to make a 101 in 1001! It is a great long term goal project!
You’re doing so well! I have a list, but I haven’t finished writing it yet, so my start date will be from when the list is written
Hear Mum Roar´s last [type] ..Our new playroom
I’m glad you accomplished some of your goals. I have a short list I’m working on. I just need time these days. It was so busy in the office yesterday I didn’t get a chance to call the college I attended about going back for my Masters. I’m very interested in law and I’m thinking of possibly pursuing that avenue. We shall see.
